AI-to-AI crypto transaction completed

An AI agent just bought AI tokens from another AI agent and is paying with—you guessed it—AI tokens!

On the last day of August, Brian Armstrong, the founder of Coinbase, announced the world’s first successful AI-to-AI crypto transaction.

AI agents don’t have bank accounts, but with a crypto wallet, they can use USDC on Base to transact with other AIs, humans, and merchants instantly, globally, and without fees.

As Armstrong puts it, this is a huge step toward making AI more practical. While there’s still a long way to go, he hinted that ‘AI checkout’ might be coming sooner than we think.

AI can finally do your laundry!

This tweet about AI doing your laundry instead of being just another marketing chatbot aged well.

1X, an OpenAI-backed robotics startup, premieres Neo—a humanoid robot designed to help with home tasks.

As an intelligent everyday assistant, Neo is bio-inspired and safe to be around people, with safety as the top priority.

Here are some of its features:

  • Its body is strong yet gentle, engineered with muscle-like anatomy instead of traditional rigid hydraulics.

  • It can walk, climb stairs, jog, and navigate naturally, becoming more efficient as it moves.

  • Neo’s vision and movement can be quickly taken over by a remote human operator for additional support.

1X’s mission is to flood the market with safe, smart humanoid robots that can handle tasks alongside people, and Neo is just the beginning. It’s currently in waitlist mode and testing in several homes to gather feedback this year.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT
How many blockchain devs are out there?

According to the latest Developer Report by Electric Capital, based on the Crypto Ecosystem on GitHub, there are 7,661 full-time blockchain developers as of July 2024.

Keep in mind, these figures only account for open-source projects and contributions, analyzing over 200M+ crypto-related Git commits across 350K+ code repositories. The actual number is likely even higher.

On the flip side, there are 14,260 part-time developers—twice as many as the full-timers.

Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Polkadot, and Arbitrum are leading the pack when it comes to ecosystems with the most monthly active developers.

Developer engagement is a solid sign of how hot a tech like crypto really is and where it’s headed. It might be cooling off for now, but let's see how long that lasts.
