WEB3
Joint forces and a new DeSo app in town!

  • ENS Domains teams up with GoDaddy to link domains and web3 addresses at no cost and help reduce the entry barrier for web3 newcomers. GoDaddy users will be able to use DNS addresses for web3-related transactions instead of long ETH addresses. Said as a "fusion of domain names and blockchain technologies" by Paul Nicks, President of Domains at GoDaddy, this is just the beginning of connecting the web2 and web3 ecosystems.

  • Farcaster experienced a 400% spike in Daily Active Users (DAU) following the introduction of new developer tools called “Frames” to the Warpcast social media app. This platform, which serves as the web3 equivalent of Twitter/X running on the Farcaster network, now incorporates Frames, enabling users to interact with external links and apps seamlessly within the Warpcast app. This functionality includes features such as NFT minting, transactions, token claiming, and more to be built upon in the following period.

  • MetaMask partners with Robinhood to allow users to purchase cryptocurrencies on MetaMask using bank transfers, debit cards, or their existing Robinhood balance. The goal of this collaboration is to streamline crypto transactions for both new and existing investors, reducing friction and simplifying the process.

A week of AI assistants and Vision Pro

  • Meet Rufus - your AI-powered shopping assistant on Amazon
Trained on its product catalog and public information from around the internet, Rufus is now in beta, available to a subset of U.S. customers, with more to come in the upcoming weeks. Customers can chat with Rufus inside the Amazon mobile app by typing or speaking to find and compare products, receive recommendations, and more. This generative AI experience can answer follow-up questions about customers’ shopping needs and preferences. At the end of each chat, customers can leave feedback and rate Rufus’s answers to help Amazon improve the model and make it more valuable over time.

  • ChatGPT is available on Apple Vision Pro
OpenAI has released the ChatGPT app for the Apple Vision Pro, the AR headset recently launched by Apple (referred to as spatial computing by Apple). By communicating with ChatGPT, users can ask questions, learn about new topics, generate images and text, and more. ChatGPT is one of the 600+ apps developed for visionOS, aimed at providing an immersive experience for individuals seeking to interact with digital content in the real world. The Apple Vision Pro represents Apple's newest product category since the Apple Watch in 2014, with rumors suggesting around ~200,000 headset users since the release date.

  • Hugging Face introduces Hugging Chat Assistants
The popular NYC-based startup, known for its open-source AI code and frameworks, has launched its newest product: third-party, customizable Hugging Chat Assistants. This product allows users of the open-source alternative to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, called Hugging Chat, to create AI chatbots with specific capabilities similar to OpenAI’s custom GPT Builder, but for free. Moreover, users can choose from among several open-source LLMs to power their AI assistant's backend, including Mistral’s Mixtral and Meta’s Llama 2.
