What aI week!

It’s been a busy week, with two consecutive days featuring major news from the titans: OpenAI and Google.

Here’s a recap of what you can’t miss from both sides:

On Monday, OpenAI showcased its latest model, GPT-4o (where "o" stands for "omni"). Not only is it faster and more efficient, but what truly distinguishes it is its ability to seamlessly reason across voice, text, and images, making it exceptionally intuitive.

The demo illustrated how GPT-4o could serve as a real-time translator for speakers of different languages, understand various vocal tones ranging from dramatic emotions to robotic expressions, recognize facial expressions, and act as a tutor by solving math problems and providing explanations.

Currently free and expected to be available in the next few weeks, GPT-4o marks a major stride in AI progress.

The very next day at their I/O conference, Alphabet announced several AI developments. These included the introduction of Veo, a direct competitor to Sora, updates to their latest AI photo generator, Imagen 3, and a new version of Sandbox for music experimentation.

Gemini Live was previewed as the new and upgraded experience in Gemini, enabling in-depth voice chats. It's part of the broader Project Astra - a universal AI agent helpful in everyday life. It intelligently gathers information about the user's surroundings in real-time to assist with various tasks, such as determining the user's location, deciphering codes, and much more.
