Crypto’s ‘If-This-Then-That‘ logic

This weekend's famous Bitcoin and cryptocurrency gathering in Nashville attracted around 20,000 attendees and notable speakers to discuss the future of digital currencies.

Big promises, firing anti-crypto executives, and tech innovations were some of the topics discussed. Naturally, Bitcoin was also a hot topic, reaching $70,000 as a post-conference after-effect.

Here’s why:

  • Donald Trump’s appearance was the most talked-about event at the conference. The Republican presidential candidate proposed creating a Bitcoin advisory council and establishing a national Bitcoin stockpile. He also criticized SEC Chair Gary Gensler and argued that Washington, rather than cryptocurrencies, is a real threat to financial stability.

  • Michael Saylor, the co-founder of MicroStrategy, discussed the limitations of traditional financial systems and physical assets compared to the revolutionary potential of Bitcoin as a 100,000-year asset.

  • Cynthia Lummis, the ‘Bitcoin Senator’ from Wyoming, announced plans to introduce legislation for a national ‘Bitcoin strategic reserve.’ She proposed acquiring 1 million Bitcoin over the next 5 years, to hold it for at least 20 years to help reduce national debt.

Moreover, Robert Mitchnick, Head of Digital Assets at BlackRock, described Bitcoin as ‘digital gold’ indicating a growing trend of institutional adoption and mainstream acceptance of cryptocurrencies in traditional finance.

Presidential candidate RFK Jr. also presented his plans for Bitcoin to serve as a strategic asset, to accumulate 4 million BTC through further purchases.

Even Edward Snowden joined the conference via video call to highlight the importance of individual freedom in the digital age, emphasizing the role of cryptocurrencies in enhancing privacy and security.

The Bitcoin conference undeniably sparked a surge in enthusiasm for cryptocurrencies.

To see how the event will continue to shape the landscape, we’ll need to hold off until after the elections.

How is Perplexity shaking up the search?

There aren't many fields left untouched by AI, but challenging a decades-old Google search feature must be both exciting and daunting.

The field is getting crowded with OpenAI’s recent announcement of the SearchGPT closed beta, but there’s already a standout product that’s redefining web searches. Unlike traditional links, it uses AI to deliver direct answers, offering a whole new way to find information.

As we witness the evolution of search in the AI era, here’s how Perplexity has emerged as one of the most promising startups leading the way.
